That's when I realized that none of this was real. I woke up and found myself soaking in the drool all over my desk. I glanced over at the pencil sharpener. It was surrounded with soda bottles and cans of energy drinks. I looked down at the floor and noticed the empty bags of potato chips strewn everywhere. I stood up and arched my back. It was all a dream, I thought. It was probably triggered by eating all that junk food. I always have weird dreams when I eat too much junk food. I snatched my alarm clock off the table to check the time, but it was dead. I shook it a few times, and then it revealed that it was 7:30. I showered and shaved.

Mr. Oak was dead. Mr. Oak wasn't a person. He was a magnificent oak tree on the college campus grounds, and had become a symbol for all the local students and an urban legend long before he was lovingly nicknamed Mr. Oak. He was named by the students and professors who sat under his powerful branches to nap or study. But his magnificence had faded from my mind when I saw what had become of him. The leaves were all shriveled and dying, some of them charred black from fire. The trunk was split straight down the middle; a perfectly vertical line dividing Mr. Oak's body into two equal halves traveled all the way down to about a foot and a half

Q1: A Late Night Visit

The first piece of evidence that I gathered when I awoke was that I had been submerged it water. It turns out, I wasn't. The puddle of drool that had accumulated on my desk had soaked my cheeks and the clammy chill stirred me into consciousness. It took me a few moments to realize that I wasn't drowning and wipe the saliva off of my face. The second piece of evidence that I gathered was that I had left the radio on before I fell asleep; the dull hum of static was the only remnant of a far off dream that I was already forgetting. I don't use this account anymore. Or deviantART, really, for that matter. But from time to time, I like to take a peek in and admire the legacy of my single Daily Deviation that still gets endless comments and faves every week. I'm proud to say that if you search "Ninja" on dA it's still on the second page. If you google the name it has been posted on numerous forums. It still gets print requests (Sorry, it's not gonna happen) and people send me messages to adapt it into this or that. There's even a stage adaptation in the works now that may or may happen. (By the way, if you want to use it or adapt it somehow, you don't need my permission
